The processing cartridge has the SBS standard format and consists of 96 separate wells with a capacity of 2.5 ml. Each source plate is hardware- coded. The processing cartridge is used for dispensing reagents and is placed in the reagent racks. The samples and is placed in the purification rack.
Before starting a purification run, the operator must dispense the samples into the wells of a processing cartridge, which is then called the source plate. During the run, the tips aspirate isolation reagents from the processing cartridge and dispense it into the source plate for the different isolation steps.
